INFORMATION REGARDING NOTARIZING DOCUMENTS
Documents can be signed with either:
- an online notary; or
- an in-person notary.
Benefits of an online notary:
- You can notarize documents from home or anywhere.
- You don’t have to search for a notary or drive to a notary.
- You don’t have to print out or email documents.
We recommend using an online notary due to the convenience and speed. With an online notary the signed/notarized documents are immediately sent electronically to you and the attorney; and thus documents can be immediately filed with the court.
Benefit of an in-person notary:
- Lower cost.
- Often no cost at banks where you have an account.
Steps for Online Notarization
- Attorney uploads documents to notary platform.
- Client and spouse receive invitation by email.
- Client and spouse complete online identity verification process.
- Client and spouse sign documents online with notary.
- The signed and notarized documents are automatically sent to you and spouse and to the attorney.
Please contact our office through our online chat for any questions regarding notarizing documents.
Requirements for a 5 week Divorce
1- At least one spouse has been a resident of Virginia for the last six months. (Or at least one spouse has been on active duty and stationed in Virginia for the last six months.)
2- You and your spouse have been separated at least six months (no minor children) or one year (if you and your spouse have minor children).

If a case takes more than five weeks to complete, the Law Office will refund $25.00 per day for each day past the 5 week timeframe, provided that the following terms and conditions have been met:
- Client and spouse live in separate homes with different addresses. We can assist you with a divorce if you and your spouse are fully separated in the same home, but the guarantee does not apply in that situation.
- Client and spouse sign and return all documents within 3 days. If more than 3 days are needed by client or spouse, the 5 week guarantee does not apply to the case, but we will finalize your case as soon as possible.

(example: date of marriage, date of separation, date of birth, spelling of a name, change division of assets or debts, etc.)
- Spouse does not contest the divorce, either through a court filing or any other means.
- The divorce shall be considered finalized by the date of the judge’s signature on the divorce decree.
- Client is solely responsible for forwarding or giving documents to spouse, and returning all documents to the Law Office. The Law Office shall not be responsible for sending documents to spouse or retrieving documents from spouse.
